Maduka Okoye explains why his proposed move to Inter Milan failed

Talented Super Eagles and Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has explained why his proposed move to Italian Serie A side Inter Milan failed at the last minute.

The mulatto goaltender who opened up in a chat with the Italian media said that the move was really close but his club Udinese were asking for €15m to buy him over.

However, Okoye said that he is not deterred that the move did not go through because he is happy to be at Udinese as the number-one goalkeeper for a long time.

“The interest from Inter was concrete, but Udinese were asking for €15m to buy me,” the shot-stopper told Transfermarkt.

“It would’ve been a dream, but I don’t regret how things went. I am happy to still be at this club, to be the Number 1 here. The situation could repeat itself if I keep working hard and maintain constant performance.

“I want to stay in Italy, this is a choice I have made. I like this land, the people in it, and the atmosphere. I am happy in Udine and want to take the club high with as many points as possible.”

Okoye also disclosed that he does not see himself leaving Udinese in the January transfer window as he sees himself continuing to improve under the guidance of his club coach.

“I don’t see myself anywhere else in January. My attention is all on Udinese. Finishing the season here, under the guidance of Runjaic, is very important for me.”
