Genesis Media Hub Advocates for Remo Dialect Debate/Competition in Annual Cultural Celebrations
Genesis Media Hub, a Sagamu-based media outlet, has appealed to traditional monarchs, leaders, and stakeholders in Remo towns to incorporate a Remo Dialect Debate/Competition into annual cultural celebrations.
According to Comrade Saliu Olamide Daniel, CEO/Publisher of Genesis Media Hub, language is a vital aspect of culture and identity. “We believe a Remo Dialect Competition will provide a platform for young scholars to showcase their eloquence while preserving our mother tongue,” he stated.
Citing the successful Egba Omo Lisabi Dialect Competition as a model, Genesis Media Hub urges the 33 revered Obas of Remo Land, led by His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi (Torungbuwa II), to support this initiative. The proposed competition aims to promote and celebrate Remo cultural heritage, foster appreciation for the local dialect among youth, and instill pride in heritage and encourage younger generations to embrace their roots.
The competition is also expected to preserve the Remo dialect and ensure its continued relevance, improve language skills among students, and bring together students, teachers, and community members. Genesis Media Hub envisions the competition as a highlight of annual anniversaries, drawing participation from schools across the region and promoting unity and shared pride in Remo culture.
Genesis stated that many towns in Remo Land annually celebrate remarkable cultural events, such as Sagamu Day, Ereke Day, Akesan Day, Onipakala Day, Lafose Day, Afotamodi Day, Isanbi Day, and Obaruwa Day. Integrating a Remo Dialect Competition into these events will enhance participation and elevate the cultural significance of these celebrations.
He implores all proactive revered traditional monarchs, leaders, and stakeholders in Remo Land to engage in dialogue about the potential of this competition, hoping to see it flourish alongside other beloved celebrations, fostering a legacy that honors the past while inspiring future generations.
