Valuejet Cup: Kwara United Hold Remo Stars to a Draw in Cup Opener

The 2023 edition of the Valuejet Cup kicked off in Ikenne with a game between Remo Stars and Kwara United. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sharing the points in a closely contested match.

It was Kwara United who drew first blood, with Ikenna Offor scoring the opener in the 43rd minute after a brilliant cross from Musa Abdulafeez. The goal was a testament to the attacking prowess of Kwara United, who dominated possession in the early stages of the match.

Remo Stars, however, were not to be outdone, and they clawed their way back into the game with a goal in the 58th minute from Sikiru Alimi. The goal was a well-taken finish, and it set the stage for a thrilling second half.

Despite both teams creating chances, neither side could find a winner, and the match ended in a draw. Kwara United’s captain, Musa Abdulafeez, was named the man of the match and awarded 100,000 naira courtesy of Optimus Bank.

The second match from Group A is scheduled to take place later in the day between Heartland FC and Sporting Lagos, followed by the last match of the day between Shooting Stars and Beyond Limits from group B.
