Idado Sagamu Set to Host Maiden Edition of Lidero Festival
The ancient town of Idado Sagamu in Ogun State, Nigeria, is gearing up to host the maiden edition of the Lidero Festival, a vibrant celebration of the community’s rich culture, history, and heritage. The festival, which honors the town’s patron saint, Saint Lidero, will take place from September 14th to 21st, 2024.
According to local legend, Saint Lidero was a wise and just ruler who brought peace and prosperity to the town. The festival is a way for the community to express their gratitude and admiration for his leadership.
The event promises to be an exciting and fun-filled celebration, featuring a range of activities, including cultural displays, novelty football matches, beauty pageants, and traditional games like Ayo Olopon and Draft. There will also be a street carnival, masquerade parades, and a ram fight.
His Royal Highness, Oba Soile Musiliu Oriyomi Osiderumu, the Radanuwa of Idado Sagamu, has invited sons and daughters of the town, both at home and in the diaspora, as well as the general public, to attend the festival.
The grand finale will take place on September 21st at the Cinema Road Junction in Idado Sagamu.
