Arsenal Football Club coach Mikel Arteta has explained what new signing Mikel Merino will bring to the club after he completed his move from Spanish side Real Sociedad.
Arteta who was speaking after the player was unveiled on Tuesday said that Merino will bring huge quality with his experience and versatility to the Arsenal squad.
He also noted that Merino who once laced boots for Newcastle FC has played at the top of the game at both club and international level for several seasons.
The coach said that Merino will significantly strengthen Arsenal’s squad with his technical ability and strong character.
He said; “Mikel is a player who will bring us huge quality with his experience and versatility,” Arteta said after Merino’s unveiling. “He has played at the top of the game at both club and international level for several seasons now. Mikel will make our squad significantly stronger, with his technical ability, together with his strong and positive character and personality.
“As we all saw in the summer, Mikel is also a winner, with his strong performances throughout the Euros helping Spain win the tournament. We are delighted to welcome Mikel and his family to the club and can’t wait to start working with him.”
