Soludo Flags Off Farm-to-Feed Campaign to End Hunger in Anambra

Anambra State governor, Charles Soludo has launched a farm-to-feed campaign in Amansea, Awka North LGA, to address hunger and improve self-sufficiency.

Speaking during the event, the governor noted that the state is taking measures to address food insecurity, rather than just protesting.

“We are here as part of our own response to the issues surrounding hunger. While others in some places are protesting, Anambra state is not protesting.”

Governor Soludo expressed gratitude towards the youths and citizens who are continuing with their daily activities and choosing to take constructive actions to improve the state and nation.

“Our people are not participating in the protest, not because they don’t feel the pain, but because they want to be part of the solution. The youths want to embrace their destinies and I want to commend you for that”, he added.

Soludo noted that the campaign relies on the active participation of citizens as well as public servants. He encouraged everyone to engage in farming as a means to reduce food scarcity and lower prices.

He stated, “This is citizens’ action against hunger in partnership with the government. We want to turn our challenges into opportunities. The farm to feed campaign is a simple partnership deal to end hunger within the next 12 months.

“If everyone starts producing, the pressure on food prices will reduce. Turn every vacant piece of land to farm, rent a space if you can, but plant something.

Governor Soludo also noted that he  is open to partnering with organizations to develop new programs and that his  administration will soon begin to recognize and honor outstanding farmers as ‘farm champions’.
