‘I am motivated to be part of this team,’ Awaziem reacts after signing for Cincinnati FC
Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has reacted after penning the dotted lines for Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Cincinnati following his move from Portugal.
The 27-year-old defender who has parted ways with Portuguese club Boavista FC noted that he is motivated to be part of his new team because the club’s fans love soccer.
Awaziem also disclosed in a chat with the club’s official website that he has seen all the games that Cincinnati has been playing and he can’t wait to contribute his quota.
He added that he cannot wait to feel what it is like to be a player for FC Cincinnati and represent the club which he described as wonderful and amazing.
“It’s been a wonderful time I’ve had with Cincinnati,” Awaziem told the club’s official website.
“I see the love the fans and everybody has for soccer. I see all the games that Cincinnati has been playing, and this has motivated me a lot to be part of this team and to feel like what it is to be a player for FC Cincinnati and represent this wonderful and amazing club.”
While reacting to the acquisition of the versatile player, Cincinnati General Manager Chris Albright said Awaziem is a talented defender with extensive experience.
Albright said; ‘‘He’s a talented defender with extensive experience at the European and international level.
“His quality, character, and leadership will be a valuable addition to our group, and I’d like to welcome him to Cincinnati.”
