Arsenal accepts transfer bid from Lazio for left-back Nuno Tavares
English Premier League (EPL) side Arsenal Football Club has accepted the transfer bid tabled by Italian Serie A side Lazio for out-of-favour left-back Nuno Tavares.
Reports say Arsenal has accepted Lazio’s final proposal to sign Tavares on loan with the obligation to buy, for a fee worth around €7/8m, with London inserting a sell-on clause in the deal.
Negotiations are said to be ongoing with Tavares’s agents on personal terms as he seeks a move away from the Emirates to revive his stagnated football career.
The deal to sign Tavares has also been confirmed by Lazio Director Angelo Fabiani who said that he is confident the club will eventually sign Tavarez from Arsenal.
Fabiani who revealed this in a chat with Noi Biancocelesti said that there is an element that is of great interest to Lazio, there is some correspondence with Arsenal about the player.
“Tavares is an element that is of great interest to Lazio, there are some correspondences between the two clubs regarding the agreement that was reached yesterday.
“Before carrying out an operation, however, many components must be agreed upon, and an agreement must be found with the player’s agents.
‘I am more than confident, but for superstitious reasons, I won’t say that he is already a Lazio player.”
“We want Nuno Tavares and there’s an agreement with Arsenal”.
“We now need to agree on personal terms with Nuno’s agents but I’m very confident we have very good chances to sign him”. Fabiani noted.
