West Ham unwilling to loan out Lucas Paqueta despite Flamengo’s approach

English Premier League (EPL) side West Ham United is unwilling to loan out talented midfielder Lucas Paqueta despite an ambitious approach by Brazilian club Flamengo.

Flamengo board delegation was in England recently to hold face-to-face talks with West Ham over a loan deal for Paquetá, which was a difficult negotiation.

Reports say West Ham has made it clear to interested clubs that they are not open to loaning out Paqueta despite Flamengo’s approach with sources revealing that the only way the deal will work is if they push for a permanent transfer.

‘‘West Ham have been clear: no plans to loan out Lucas Paquetá despite Flamengo’s direct approach.

‘‘Flamengo will try again to make deal happen in the next weeks, but only way would be a permanent transfer.’’ Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano wrote on his X page.

This comes two months after the player vowed to fight with every breath in his life to clear his name after he was charged by the English Football Association (FA) for misconduct over alleged breaches of FA Rules E5 and F3.

The Brazilian international was charged by the FA for allegedly being booked “for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market.”

The FA claimed that Paquetá intentionally sought to receive a card from the referee for the improper purpose of affecting the betting market for one or more persons to profit from betting”.

The four accusations levied against the player are related to matches in 2023 against Aston Villa on March 12, Leeds United on May 21, Bournemouth on August 12, and a Premier League match against Leicester City on November 12, 2022.
