2024 Farming Season: Anambra Community Targets Massive Food Production
Nimo community in Njikoka local government area, Anambra State, Tuesday, launched an agricultural revolution in order to combat hunger and poverty in the country through massive food production.
During the flag-off of the 2024 farming session titled “Nimo Food Revolution – War Against Hunger,” the community urged the residents and natives to farm all their available lands for massive food production.
According to President General of Nimo Town Development Union (NTDU), Dan Zeelunjo Anakpe – Annaliukwu, cultivating arable lands at Owa, Owe, Mkpuluata, Nkokpo, Agu Nogba, Agu ekpe lands and others were capable of reducing hunger to a barest minimum.
In his own remarks, the assistant national secretary, NTDU, Okeide Tony Mbubah and former chairman of NTDU Lagos branch, Chuks Okonkwo, said they were optimistic that massive food production would help to stop hardship and hike in prices of commodities across markets nationwide.
“We have sensitised our people to clear every place that is not cultivated and plant accordingly because the economy is biting harder on the masses. We will keep encouraging them to ensure that their farmlands make a good yield in the end,” Okonkwo added.
